Afternoon Tea with The Adventurists and Hendricks Gin
We have been working with The Adventurists for over a year, providing their events with excellent afternoon tea. Their recent knees up took place at the The Round Chapel in Hackney. On one side was Hendricks Gin, their usual breathtaking dicsplay of oak bar tops, Victorian curiosities and casual gin dispensing bath tub. We were opposite located underneath the sweeping balcony. A stags head adorned our table which was peppered with antique tea pots and small dainty cups and saucers. The stall looked like a country home, warn and tarnished from years of use. A bowler hatted boars head sat resting in a leather brief case.
Our Teas were sourced from Attic Tea and included one blend and two straight teas. We had Birthday Blend- Rooibosh, Earl Grey and vailla pods; Keemun Superior- an excellent black tea and Pu-erh- an intriguing fermented tea that comes wrapped like a small cake.
Of course our cakes were the absolute highlight:
Barley Wood Toffee apple cake wrapped in gold-
Discovered in a Newtonian like moment underneath the branches of a Laxton’s Fortune apple tree. A rip-roaring symphony of toffee, apple and delicious mystery.
Chai, apple and almond cake- We discovered this fabulous combination after a dashing Indian Prince spilled his cup of Chai Tea on one of our own Frangipane cakes. We never looked back. *Gluten free.
Beetroot- Somerset Beetroot completes this moist and heavenly creation.
A Selection of Oddly Shaped Sandwiches- After hours of heated debate with Master Baker Tom Herbert we chose the best bread imaginable.
The guest speaker was Sir Chay Blythe, an legendary figure of fearless adventure. His words had the chapel in awe.
