Cheese School
Ever wanted to immerse yourself in cheese, spend a whole day nibbling and tasting, and meet the people who make the best cheeses in Britain?
Trethowans dairy and Fiona Beckett have created Cheese School, not just a short class but an entire day dedicated to learning about your favorite food…
The next event will take place on Sunday 30th October.
The day runs from 10.30 till 4pm and will be hosted by Fiona Beckett and Jess Trethowan. We will be joined by some of Britain’s finest cheesemakers, brewers and other food experts to bring you a whole day of cheese and pairings.
Joe Schneider, one of the UK’s best cheesemakers and producer of the wonderful Stichelton, will be at this Cheese School to talk about how and where Stichelton is made and how it differs from other blue cheeses.
Somerset cheesemaker Tim Homewood will show you how to make cheese in your own kitchen. This workshop will be held in the amazing Cider Barn at the bottom of the orchard.
Todd Trethowan of Trethowan’s Dairy will be introducing you to British Territorial Cheeses and
Fiona will be running the very well received Amazing Tastes session and also the “Cheese Smack Down” with Andrew Cooper of the Bristol Beer Factory and Peter Snowman of The Bristol Cider Shop.
Ben Ticehurst, our expert cheesemonger will be sharing his passion for British and French cheeses and looking at comparisons between them.
And as we will be surrounded by orchards, we will also be hearing from Jack Adair-Bevan – one of the owners of The Ethicurean, about the different varieties of apples and how they pair with the various cheeses we will be tasting on the day.
A delicious lunch will be provided by the wonderful Ethicurean Chefs and you will leave fully cheesed up at around 4 ‘o’ clock.
Tickets cost £125 and for this you get the passion and experience of some of Britain’s best cheesemakers, the wine and food matching expertise of Fiona Beckett (The Guardian’s wine writer), as much cheese as you can eat, plenty of wine, beer, cider and a lovely meal to boot.
